The World Wide Web is a place where a user’s data and underage protection should be amongst the top priorities for software companies and operating platforms. Mountberg Ltd., a Cyprus-based company, left its users’ data unprotected.
Mountberg Ltd. leaked sensitive player data on Monday, reported earlier.
The data that got exposed was leaked from an ElasticSearch server. The servers had no password protection. The information that got public included details such as personal data, log of deposits and withdrawals and financial transactions, related to the online casino.
The unprotected server required none authentication to protect the sensitive data.
No representatives on the side of the online casino have made comments regarding the data leak. It’s unknown for how long the data was exposed to the public with no protection.
ElasticSearch is a search engine, providing a full-text engine with an HTTP interface and schema-free documents. Developed in Java, the search engine was released as an open source project under the terms of Apache License.
