The decentralized blockchain open source platform announced joining Microsoft’s. NET Foundation and thus becoming its first official member.
Quoted from the application’s official statement, NEO marks an industry milestone.
“As the first blockchain project to join the .NET Foundation, we’re excited to come together based on our shared commitment to open-source, to developers, and to world-wide community collaboration. Based on our shared core values and principles, I am confident that this partnership will speed up developer innovation to drive mass adoption of blockchain and build the foundation for next-gen Internet.” – said the Head of NGD Seattle, John deVadoss during his talk at the .NET Conference 2019.
During the official announcement, NEO shared an exclusive preview of its Blockchain Toolkit. It included a variety of micro apps, such as a Smart contract debugger, Visual DevTracker, Neo Express and others.
NEO is the 21-st biggest coin by market capitalization and is expected to have a major 3.0 update in the second quarter of 2020. Industry experts expect the upgrade to launch as a new blockchain network, thus users will swap existing tokens for new ones.
NEO’s current architecture will be soon updated because of under performance with existing features now, according to Erik Zhang – core developer and NEO’s Co-founder. The 3.0 version is expected to provide cheaper deployment of smart contracts, cheaper transactions and a faster blockchain.
