Keanu Reeves has a thing for action movies. And as we saw – action video games. The actor enjoyed his Cyberpunk 2077 character so much he requested additional screen time. CD Projekt RED accommodated his request by doubling the actor’s screen time.
Raving fans of the upcoming game release took it to the edge when the actor appeared on stage during E3 earlier this year. In an interview with Luca Ward – a long-running dubber of the Matrix Star, Italian journalist Gian Luca Rocco reported Keanu was so captivated by his in-game character Johnny Silverhand, that he couldn’t resist asking the Polish studio to expand his role.

Announced in May 2012, Cyberpunk 2077 has been a long-awaited project by the Polish game studio CD Projekt RED. Just last year fans got the full list of platforms they will release the game in, including Xbox One (announced during E3 2018), PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows and Google Stadia. The producers of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt displayed a full-scale replica of the Yaiba Kusanagi motorcycle during the Tokyo Game Show.

Wake the fuck up Samurai, we have a city to burn.„

— Johnny Silverhand, 2019 Cyberpunk 2077 Cinematic Trailer

Johnny Silverhand, portrayed by Keanu Reeves, is the main Cyberpunk 2077 character. An alternative rockstar, lead singer of the band Samurai, Johnny was killed by a cyborg in Cyberpunk 2020. Fans believe that his appearing suggests he continued living as a hologram. During Reeves’s stage appearance, he promised gamers a “breathtaking” and futuristic gameplay walkthrough with the option to customize your character through in-game choices.
